The Floyd County Community Foundation awarded $109,363 to 30 Floyd County organizations at a ceremony Wednesday evening.
“$109,000 is being handed out tonight folks — that’s amazing,” said Kip Hauser while he accepted a grant on behalf of the Senior Citizens of Charles City Area at the event.
The Floyd County Community Foundation helps support non-profit groups around the county through its endowments, and is partnered with the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa.
There were at least 40 grant applications this year.
Arts Center Director Jacqueline Davidson accepted a grant on behalf of the Art Center. The money is going toward a security system and cameras, she said.
This isn’t the first time that the Art Center has received a grant from the Floyd County Foundation.
“We got one last year for the air conditioning and the heating system,” Davidson said.
The grants help out the Art Center a lot, she said.
Also at the ceremony, Diane Neuzil was recognized in her new position as development associate for the community foundation, taking over for Marcie Andrews, who will stay to help the foundation part-time.
“It’s just an honor and pleasure to be here to see all of the worthy causes and programs,” Neuzil said. “It’s just a pleasure to see the dollars in action.”
